ATTORNEY PROFILE
Mr. MacLeitch’s practice focuses on insurance defense litigation, including personal injury and
premises liability defense, landlord-tenant litigation, and defense of first party claims. A large
percentage of his practice involves cases in which the insurer has reserved its right to contest
coverage, and the insured is represented by either personal or Cumis counsel. As such, Mr.
MacLeitch is well versed in navigating the “tripartite” relationship and the potential conflicts
associated with handling such cases. He also has expertise in handling appeals on behalf of
the firm’s clients.
Mr. MacLeitch began practicing in 1996, and joined Haapala, Altura, Thompson & Abern, LLP,
as an associate in 1998. He became a partner in 2005.
He is a member of the Association of Defense Counsel, and the Alameda County Bar
Association.
